Fathers are pleading, lovers are all alone
Mothers are praying--send our sons back home
You marched them away--yes, you did--on ships and planes
To the senseless war, facing death in vain

Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Turn the ships around, lay your weapons down

Can't you see 'em march across the sky, all the soldiers that have died
Tryin' to get home--can't you see them tryin' to get home?
Tryin' to get home--they're tryin' to get home
Seesaw fire on the battlefield
Enough men have already been wounded or killed

Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Turn the ships around, lay your weapons down
(Mothers, fathers and lovers, can't you see them)

Oooh, oooh...
Tryin' to get home--can't you see them tryin' to get home?
Oooh, oooh...
Tryin' to get home--they're tryin' to get home

Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)
What they doing over there, now (bring 'em back alive)
When we need them over here, now (bring 'em back alive)
What they doing over there, now (bring 'em back alive)
When we need them over here, now (bring 'em back alive

Neils Response:
I chose this song because I thought it resembled what people were feeling about the wars, they really wanted it to be over and everyone to come back home, for example it says Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive), and it says Fathers are pleading, lovers are all alone Mothers are praying--send our sons back home, which means that it wasn't only just men who were out helping the war, woman were helping too.

Danielle's Response:
This song was chosen because it shows the pain and worry that was going on in America when loved ones were fighting in Vietnam. It says " Can't you see 'em march across the sky, all the soldiers that have died." Then it continues and says " What they doing over there, now (bring 'em back alive)." One of the messages that the song sends is that; so many men are dying, and for no reason. Another message the song sends is that nobody wants them over there. It's safe to say that every single American wanted the boys to come home.
By reading the lyrics I felt the song provokes listeners to do something about the never-ending war that was going on. The song is motivating and makes people want to take action, and end the war. People that hear the song can all have different reactions but if a parent had a one of their children in the war, then it's sensible to think that they would be angry and maybe lead a riot or a protest. If a soldier in Vietnam was to hear this song, then that person would definitely find truth in the lyrics.

Allie's Response:
The song that our group choose was Bring the Boys back home. I think that this song resembles the way people were feeling at the time.
I think the message to this song is that the war was really bad and a lot of people that had a father or family member that was in the war really wanted them to come home and come home safely.
When I first read the lyrics to this song It made me realize how much people were sad and worried about the men that were in the war, and made me want to do something about it help them or start a group talk about there feelings. The lyrics to this song really make the reader want to do something about this issue.
I think the solders that were in the Vietnam war would have thought that this was wrong for his family to be worrying all the time, and wondering if he was going to come home safe or not. I think that this song talks about the way people that were waiting for there family member to come home were feeling at the time the war was going on. I also think that the young children that could have been drafted at the time probably thought that this was scary knowing that they could be involved in this war.
